Multiple career highs in 43-point effort Bates provided 43 points (15-23 FG, 9-14 3Pt, 4-4 FT), seven rebounds and one assist across 40 minutes during Tuesday's 84-79 loss to Toledo. Impact Bates set career highs in both scoring and three-pointers made, due largely to an incredible first half in which he scored 29 consecutive points for EMU. The massive scoring effort brings his season-long average up to 20.5 ppg, which puts him in the top-20 overall in the country. Despite the effort of Bates, the Eagles fell to 1-6 in MAC play and remain well outside the NCAA Tournament picture. Individually, however, the former top-5 overall recruit remains firmly on the radar of NBA scouts.
