Potential rotation candidate McKneely has a chance to crack the Virginia rotation as a freshman according to head coach Tony Bennett, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reports. Impact Virginia has a trio of four-star freshman in this year's recruiting class, and while power forward Isaac Traudt generally has the highest consensus ranking, he has two major roadblocks to playing time in the form of Jayden Gardner and Ohio transfer Ben Vander Plas. McKneely, on the other hand, plays shooting guard, which is a position in need of depth. While Kihei Clark, Reece Beekman and Armaan Franklin are all returning starters that will again play heavy minutes, there simply are not many other options behind them. It effectively makes sense that McKneely could see action in the backcourt early, though he still should be considered more of a longer-term prospect than a redraft option.
