Filing for eligibility in 2020-21 Toppin has a shot to play in 2020-21 after Kentucky filed a recent immediate eligibility waiver request, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reports. Impact Toppin spent just one season at Rhode Island before making the move to Kentucky, so he would traditionally have to be sidelined for a year before becoming eligible to play. The NCAA is seemingly more lenient on waiver requests given this year's circumstances, however, so the Wildcats feel it's worth it to at least make an attempt. Toppin wasn't a major factor in his freshman year with URI, so even if he gets a waiver, he'd still be a fringe rotation option with the Wildcats. Nevertheless, it's a team that needs frontcourt depth, a situation that could be even more serious if fellow undergrad transfer Olivier Sarr doesn't get approved for his waiver as well.
