Rebounds with 17 points Walter closed Saturday's 64-61 loss to Kansas with 17 points (5-12 FG, 2-9 3Pt, 5-5 FT), eight rebounds, three assists and two steals in 30 minutes.
Impact Walter came into Saturday's contest having scored in single-digits in each of the last three games and in five of nine conference games. Walter hit a couple of bunnies early, then a rare trip to the line with six minutes left in the first half that resulted in five made free throws seemed to help spur Walter's confidence after shooting just 7-for-35 (20%) over the previous four games. After scoring 15.9 points on 44.5% shooting from the field and 41.3% from three in 13 games during the non-conference slate, the standout freshman's scoring production has dipped to 12.2 points on just 31.1% shooting from the floor and 23.7% from beyond the arc in 10 Big 12 games.

Impact It was an up-and-down non-conference season for the highly-touted freshman, so it is positive that he'll head into the conference schedule on a high note. After starting the year averaging 19.2 points through the first five games, Walter hit a rough stretch over the next six, averaging just 10.3 points on 35.7% shooting from the floor. However, Walter has now gone over 20 in his last two, averaging 24.5 points on 54.5% (18-for-33) shooting including 50% (9-for-18) from beyond the arc. He's also posted 6.5 rebounds, including a season-high nine on Tuesday, along with 4.0 assists per game during that stretch. That's the Walter fantasy managers would love to see on a more consistent basis as the conference season begins.

Impact Walter assisted on a RayJ Dennis three, then hit one of his own to help spark the Bears on a second half run as they pulled away from Seton Hall in the second half. After a hot start to the season that saw him score 20-plus in three of his first five games, Walter had cooled a bit in his previous three averaging under eight points per game during that stretch. However, the freshman sensation rebounded on Tuesday, hitting four treys on his way to a 15 point outing. Walter has now averaged 19.5 points in four games against power conference opponents.

Impact The highly touted freshman lived up to the billing in his first regular season action for the Bears, leading the team in scoring and minutes played while shooting 54% from the floor, 57% from three and hitting all 10 of his free throws.
