Impact Akinjo was the best player on the floor in the this one. He was able to lead the defending champs to their ninth straight win to start the 2021-22 campaign. Akinjo is averaging 10.6 points, 6.0 assists, and 2.2 steals per game. He should see his scoring rise as Baylor starts to get into conference play, as the Bears have played in a ton of blowouts this season.

Impact This was just the second time in six games this season that Akinjo has scored more than 11 points. Despite the lack of scoring, Akinjo has been great distributing the ball and turning teams over, averaging 6.8 assists and 2.3 steals per contest. Baylor will face Arkansas-Pine Bluff in a week's time.

Impact Akinjo was excellent as a distributor in what was really a dominant showing even without Adam Flagler (hand). LJ Cryer has been a terrific guard option off the bench to go alongside Kendall Brown and Flagler. Baylor's rotation is pretty deep at the moment, but as conference play approaches Akinjo should see a more high volume of minutes and scoring opportunities.

Impact Akinjo had a decent day by his standards. He wasn't needed to score much in the rout, but did a nice job running the offense in his first outing as a Baylor Bear. The prized Arizona transfer should continue to get more comfortable as the season goes on. Akinjo will face more easy tests against Nicholls State on Monday and Central Arkansas on Wednesday.
