Suspended for season opener Virginia Tech announced that Mutts will serve an NCAA-mandated one-game suspension for Monday's season opener against Delaware State.

Impact Mutts is being suspended for participating in non-NCAA events while going through the pre-draft NBA process before returning to Virginia Tech. The senior forward will be able to practice with the team ahead of his debut next Thursday versus Lehigh.

Returns to Virginia Tech Mutts announced that he has withdrawn from the 2022 NBA Draft and will return to college, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reports.

Impact Mutts started all 36 games for the Hokies last season, averaging 29.8 minutes, 10.1 points, 7.4 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.2 steals per game. The 6-foot-7 forward paired with teammate Keve Aluma were known as one of the top frontcourt duos in college basketball, but Mutts will have to work to find that chemistry with another teammate as Aluma remains in the NBA Draft.

Mutts enters a tough matchup against the Tar Heels on Friday averaging 11.6 points and 9.4 rebounds per game over his previous five contests.
