Impact McGee saw 28 minutes of action for Wisconsin as they dispatched Holy Cross in their season opener. The 6-foot senior averaged just 2.1 points, 0.8 rebounds and 0.5 steals on 8.3 minutes per game last season (25 games), but he will look to be a more critical piece of the Badgers' rotation this season. McGee is likely to cede minutes to Daniel Freitag as the season progresses, but with Camren Hunter (undisclosed) sidelined, he was the most utilized bench option for Wisconsin on Monday.

Leading race for starting role McGee seems to be leading the race to become the Badgers' starting point guard for the 2024-25 season, Evan Flood of 247Sports.com reports.

Impact Daniel Freitag was expected to open the season as the starting point guard, but McGee has separated himself as the leader in that race due to his impressive play in training camp. The senior averaged a mere 2.1 points per game off the bench in 2023-24, and after spending the first two years with the Badgers program as an option off the bench, it seems he'll be the floor general to run the show in 2024-25.

Looks terrific during team practice McGee (foot) looked terrific during Wisconsin's team practice last week, according to Nick Osen of 247Sports.

Impact Osen's update indicates McGee has fully recovered from foot surgery he underwent during the spring. Ideally for him, his practice performances are a sign of an improved role. As a sophomore and junior for Wisconsin, he averaged fewer than nine minutes per game with the Badgers. But now that McGee is one of the more tenured members of their basketball program, perhaps his veteran presence will be followed up with more playing time.

Impact McGee was a game-time call for Sunday's matchup, but he made an impact with limited touches. McGee has yet to start a game in the two years he's been with Wisconsin, however, and that's not expected to change soon.

Impact McGee was suited up for warmups, so it seems there's a better chance than not that the junior will return to the floor for the first time since Jan. 23. McGee typically spells Chucky Hepburn some on the ball and should see regular action again when he's available.

Impact McGee has missed Wisconsin's last 11 games, and the Badgers have taken a nosedive in his absence. Despite only averaging 1.4 points over 6.8 minutes, McGee provides steady minutes at point guard when starter Chucky Hepburn needs a breather. Getting the junior back could be key for Wisconsin as they try to snap out of their end-of-season slump. It's not clear yet whether he'll be available for the Badgers' Thursday tilt with Rutgers.
