Leads team against Kentucky Wilson had 23 points (8-16 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 5-8 FT) to go along with 10 rebounds across 31 minutes in Tuesday's 65-62 victory over Kentucky. Impact There have been questions about the fifth starter for Kansas throughout the offseason, but Wilson appears to have done enough to earn this role. He began the year as a starter for the opener against Gonzaga and put up 11 points in 22 minutes in the 12-point loss. Bill Self then elected to start Bryce Thompson over Wilson in the second game of the year against St. Joseph's, but Wilson impressed with 14 points, nine rebounds and three assists off the bench. Wilson was back in the starting five for an all-important matchup against Kentucky, and the freshman answered with his first career double-double. There were even long stretches in the second half where Wilson was the only Jayhawk player to find the basket, especially with Marcus Garrett limited due to illness. Thompson may be the higher-rated recruit on paper, but Wilson has definitely outplayed him through three contests.
