'He's not afraid': Kyle Filipowski is Duke's biggest weapon The freshman forward is off to a hot start, including several big plays on Thursday in a win against Oregon State.
Another double-double Filipowski notched 19 points (5-13 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 8-9 FT), 14 rebounds, one assist and one steal across 31 minutes during Thursday's 54-51 victory over Oregon State.
Impact Filipowski is filling the big shoes left by Paolo Banchero, the first overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, as he has posted four double-doubles in six appearances while also increasing his scoring numbers with each passing game. He's enjoying an excellent start to the season with averages of 16.2 points and 11.0 rebounds per game across 26 minutes per contest.

Consistent two-way threat Filipowski provided 18 points (4-8 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 7-8 FT), eight rebounds and two assists across 21 minutes during Monday's 74-57 win over Bellarmine.
Impact Filipowski has not recorded a double-double in each of his last two outings after beginning the year with that feat in three consecutive performances, but that doesn't take away anything from his strong start to the season. The freshman has scored at least 10 points and has grabbed at least eight rebounds in each of his five appearances of the campaign.

Impact Despite the return of Dereck Lively to the fold, the 7-0 Filipowski was still able to lead Duke in both scoring and rebounding in the losing effort. He's now averaging a dozen attempts from the field per contest, which is a great sign from a fantasy perspective, even if they aren't falling yet. The freshman still owns averages of 14.0 points and 12.0 rebounds on the year.

Impact Filipowski has some huge shoes to fill since he'll replace Mark Williams, who's now with the Hornets in the NBA, but he delivered a solid performance in the opener with a double-double and a strong showing on both ends of the court. It was certainly a promising debut for the freshman.
