Career day as Duke fallsHurt had 37 points (15-21 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 5-6 FT) and seven rebounds across 43 minutes in Saturday's 80-73 OT loss to Louisville.
ImpactHurt has been forced to take on an even bigger role with the sudden news that potential lottery pick Jalen Johnson would be opting out. The sophomore has answered the call and then some, averaging 24.0 points and 4.6 rebounds in the last five games, with Duke going 4-1 over that span. Hurt's effort Saturday resulted in a new career high in scoring, shattering his previous mark of 26 points. The loss was a big hit for Duke's NCAA Tournament hopes, but there will still be opportunities to pick up resume-building wins in scheduled road matchups against Georgia Tech (March 2) and North Carolina (March 6) prior to the ACC Tournament.

Propels Cardinals in OTJones had 25 points (9-18 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 6-8 FT), six rebounds, four assists and two steals across 44 minutes in Saturday's 80-73 OT victory over Duke.
ImpactEven with second-leading scorer David Johnson (12.5 ppg) back in the lineup, Jones still led Louisville in points, field-goal attempts and minutes played. He was particularly effective in overtime, where the senior scored seven of his 25 points -- it's no coincidence the Cardinals outscored Duke 15-8 in the OT period. Jones and the Cardinals moved a step closer to the NCAA Tournament with this win, while also providing a big hit to Duke's hopes.

Returns with nine pointsJohnson had nine points (4-11 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 1-2 FT), three assists and two rebounds across 31 minutes in Saturday's 80-73 OT victory over Duke.
ImpactJohnson was held out last Tuesday against Notre Dame due to an unspecified, non -COVID-related illness, but was back in action for the all-important ACC matchup. He did take a backseat to leading scorer Carlik Jones (25 points), but nonetheless was one of three Louisville players to put up double-digit attempts from the field. Johnson and the Cardinals close out ACC regular season play with a pair of tough matchups against Virginia Tech and Virginia.
