Named Preseason B1G POY Garza was selected as the 2020-21 Preseason Big Ten Player of the Year on Sunday by a panel of Big Ten media members. Impact No surprises here, as Garza is the reigning conference player of the year who elected to return for his senior season despite testing the NBA Draft waters. Garza was the leading scorer in the Big Ten at 23.9 points per game, a mark that was good for sixth in the entire country. The double-double machine also tallied 9.8 rebounds per contest, plus assisted with other fantasy categories such as blocks (1.8) and three-pointers made (1.3). The key supporting players at Iowa will be largely similar as well, though the team loses some post depth in Ryan Kriener (graduation) and Cordell Pemsl (transfer), leaving even more opportunities for the 6-11 center. There's arguably even an improvement at point guard on the way, with Jordan Bohannon set to return from a hip injury. Garza has never entered a season with these types of expectations before, but he'll be one of the safest bets to take off the board at No. 1 in upcoming fantasy drafts.
