Heating up from threeBallock had 26 points (9-15 FG, 8-14 3Pt, 0-1 FT), six rebounds, three assists and a steal across 38 minutes in Monday's 89-84 loss to Marquette.
ImpactWhile the Bluejays still fell by five points, it was a welcome volume outburst from the senior, who set season-highs in scoring and field goals attempted. The outing also jumped his three-point shooting rate up to 38.6 percent, and while that mark would still be a three-year low, he'll have another chance to build on this Thursday against St. Johns.

First double-doubleGarcia had 14 points (6-10 FG, 0-2 3 Pt, 2-4 FT), 10 rebounds, three assists and two blocks across 28 minutes in Monday's 89-84 victory over Creighton.
ImpactIt was a career-high in rebounding and first double-double for the freshman, who seems to be taking advantage of the fact that center Theo John appears to be limited by a knee injury. The volume has at least been consistent for Garcia, as he's attempted double-digit shots in five of seven games this season, including his last four. The 6-11 power forward is converting those at a rate of 43.1 percent, including 38.9 percent from beyond the arc. There is a ton of long-term upside here if he sticks with the program for multiple seasons.

Shines as primary PGCarton had a team-high 20 points (6-13 FG, 5-7 3 Pt, 3-4 FT) to go along with five rebounds, five assists and two steals across 34 minutes in Monday's victory over Creighton.
ImpactCarton came off the bench for the first two games of the season, but in four games since stepping into the starting lineup Dec. 4, he's averaged 14.8 points, 4.0 rebounds and 4.0 steals. The recent boost in playing time has been due largely to the absence of Symir Torrence, who is sidelined indefinitely due to a toe injury. Nonetheless, Carton has done so well in the role that his playing time may not take much of a hit at all once Torrence is back in the fold.

Logs 20 minutes against CreightonJohn had seven points (3-3 FG, 1-2 FT), six rebounds, an assist and a block across 20 minutes in Monday's 89-84 victory over Creighton.
ImpactJohn had been limited in practice this week due to a knee issue and was held scoreless in his last game against UCLA, so his status for Monday wasn't perfectly cleared. While the senior did take on his regular spot in the starting five, forward Justin Lewis was more active off the bench, logging 31 minutes in the contest. Freshman Dawson Garcia also had his most active game on the glass of the season, hauling in 10 rebounds to go along with his 14 points. John and the Golden Eagles draw Seton Hall on Thursday, and while it doesn't appear like this issue will force an absence, it's fair to wonder if he's at 100 percent.
