Non-factor in return Gillis had zero points (0-1 FG, 0-1 3Pt) and one rebound in 10 minutes during Sunday's 80-74 victory over Villanova. Impact Gillis was able to crack the starting lineup by the end of his freshman season with the Boilermakers, ultimately posting 5.2 points and 4.1 rebounds across 28 games (23 starts). He had to miss the first four games of his sophomore campaign after pleading guilty to OWI in the offseason, however, leaving the door open for another freshman forward in Caleb Furst to take on the starting power forward role. Furst has been averaging 9.6 points and 7.4 rebounds through the season's first five games, and while rust likely played a factor in Gillis' low minutes total Sunday, strong play from Furst could very well be his biggest obstacle to seeing the court more.
