Named WCC DPOY Haarms was named the West Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Year on Tuesday.
Impact Haarms joined the BYU program as a graduate transfer from Purdue and made an instant impact for the Cougars. He led the WCC in rejections with 2.0 bpg, in addition to posting a career-best scoring mark of 11.0 ppg. He brings valuable postseason experience to a BYU team that's likely to get an at-large bid in the 2021 NCAA Tournament.

Impact Haarms led BYU with 21 points and he was able to go a perfect 7-for-7 from two despite matching up against another 7-3 player in Mattias Markusson. He also contributed a team-high five blocks and the efficient play led to a season-high 32 minutes. Even with his size, Haarms is only fourth on the team with 4.3 rebounds per game.

Impact Haarms missed only one shot as had to pick up the slack for the rest of the BYU offense, with Alex Barcello having an off-night and all of the other starters failing to reach double-digits. Haarms did have a season-low one rebound, although the opportunities were minimal against an efficient Gonzaga offense.
