Bryce Nze - Has partially torn labrumNze suffered a partial labrum tear in his left shoulder during Wednesday's game against Michigan State, the team announced Thursday.
ImpactThe team will evaluated him over the next few days and make a determination on his status for next week's Maui Invitational. Ty Groce and Jair Bolden could see additional action going forward if Nze is forced to miss time.

Gabe Brown - Leading scorer in winBrown supplied 19 points (6-13 FG, 4-10 3Pt, 3-3 FT), six rebounds and one assist in 30 minutes during Wednesday's 73-52 victory over Butler.
ImpactAfter starting just five games for the Spartans last year, Brown has taken on a consistent role as a starter early in the 2021-22 campaign. Across the first three games of the season, the senior has averaged 15.3 points and 5.0 rebounds in 27.7 minutes per contest.

Ty Groce - Productive in Nze's steadGroce notched 15 points (4-13 FG, 3-8 3Pt, 4-6 FT), eight rebounds, one assist and two steals in 26 minutes during Wednesday's 73-52 loss to Michigan State.
ImpactGroce saw a big uptick in playing time in this one after starting power forward Bryce Nze went down with a shoulder injury after just seven minutes. The Eastern Michigan transfer ended up being the main beneficiary of the extra available minutes, leading the Bulldogs in both scoring and rebounding. The status of Nze is uncertain for the time being, but any absence seems like it would lead to extra production for Groce.

Aaron Thompson - Scores nine in returnThompson contributed nine points (4-8 FG, 1-6 FT), two rebounds, two assists, one block and two steals over 29 minutes during Wednesday's 73-52 loss to Michigan State.
ImpactThompson's three-game suspension to start the season has wrapped up, and it appears he's picking up where he left off last season by immediately resuming a starting role. He ended up seeing the second-most minutes among Butler players in the contest, with backup Simas Lukosius limited to just nine minutes in a reserve capacity. What Thompson and the Bulldogs didn't count on was a shoulder injury that knocked power forward Bryce Nze out of the game, and a failure to adjust heavily contributed to the 20-plus point defeat. Any absence there would likely leave another six or seven field goal attempts per game to go around for the rest of the squad.
