Suffers shoulder injury Mitchell suffered a right shoulder injury in Minnesota's exhibition win over Hamline on Tuesday night, SI.com reports.
Impact Mitchell exited the contest about four minutes while battling for a loose ball. He left the court, and returned to the bench with his ice on his shoulder and a sling. The severity of the ailment is unclear, but head coach Ben Johnson reportedly called it "a little setback" after the game. Mitchell is expected to be the Gophers' starter at the five, so this would be a big blow if he's forced to miss time. His status for Minnesota's opener on Nov. 6 against Oral Roberts is now in question.

Impact Wednesday is Minnesota's first day of preseason practice. And fortunately for the Gophers, they will have their most proven player ready. Minnesota's 2024-25 season will be Garcia's third for UMN. For the most part, he saw significant improvement between his freshman and sophomore seasons, the latter including averages of 17.6 points, 6.7 rebounds and one block across 31 games he started. Even with the Big Ten Conference adding multiple colleges for this season, Garcia remains one of its most reliable superstars.
