Opting out of season Eastern announced via his personal Twitter on Sunday that he will opt of the rest of this season due to COVID-19 concerns and prepare for the 2021 NBA Draft.
Impact Eastern had yet to play for the Bison this year Despite the D-1 Council voting to allow all transfers to play this season. He ultimately decided it was in his best interests to opt out of the season and focus on preparing for the 2021 NBA Draft. Eastern started a majority of the games over his last two years at Purdue. His best season with the Boilermakers came in 2018 when he averaged 7.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists in 28.2 minutes per game.

Impact As an undergrad transfer from Purdue, Eastern didn't initially appear to be getting an immediate exception to suit up right away for Howard. He missed four games as a result (and two more were called off), but now, the path should be cleared to make his debut Friday against Hampton.

Still awaiting waiver Eastern has yet to receive a waiver from the NCAA for immediate eligibility in the 2020-21 season, HBCU GameDay reports.
Impact Eastern has yet to take the court in three games for the Bison -- all of which have resulted in losses. He'd immediately be on of the team's best players on both ends of the court once cleared, but there's no indication a decision is immediately on the horizon. Howard is next scheduled to take the court Dec. 2 against La Salle.
