UNC basketball braces to play without its leader, Armando Bacot. Who fills his shoes? The Tar Heels’ leading scorer and rebounder, Bacot was injured early in the game against Virginia on Tuesday. He’s missed only two full game...

Jalen Washington - Steps up with Bacot outWashington provided 13 points (5-11 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 3-6 FT), six rebounds and one block in 27 minutes during Tuesday's 65-58 loss to Virginia.
ImpactWashington struggled with a knee injury early in his freshman season and missed the first nine games as a result. He was then limited to six minutes or less over his next seven games, sitting out two entirely. His number was called Tuesday, however, as star center Armando Bacot went down with an ankle injury after just one minute of play. While X-rays on Bacot's ankle came back negative, Washington still appears to be in line to serve as the primary center for as long as Bacot is sidelined, presumably starting with Saturday's matchup against Louisville.

Armando Bacot - Receives X-rays on ankleBacot (ankle) underwent X-rays that came back negative, Jeff Goodman of Stadium reports.
ImpactIt appears that Bacot has avoided a major injury to his ankle after exiting Tuesday's game against Virginia. The 6-foot-11 senior has been a scoring machine for the Tar Heels this season, in which he is averaging 17.6 points while shooting 56.7 percent from the field. Bacot is still experiencing significant swelling and will be questionable for Saturday's showdown with Louisville.

Armando Bacot - Logs just one minute due to injuryBacot (ankle) ultimately did not return to the court Tuesday against Virginia, finishing with one rebound in one minute of action.
ImpactWhile Bacot wasn't facing a great fantasy matchup Tuesday night, it was still an incredibly difficult break for managers who decided to deploy him. The Tar Heels have a soft road matchup next up Saturday at Louisville, and Bacot should likely be considered questionable, at best, for that tilt. Should he end up sitting, 6-10 freshman Jalen Washington would be the best candidate to see the start, as he logged an impressive 13 points and six boards in relief of Bacot on Tuesday.
