Jalen Hill - Low output in tight lossHill had six points (2-5 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 2-3 FT), four rebounds and two steals across 35 minutes during Saturday's 70-66 loss to Villanova.
ImpactHill logged another quiet shooting performance in this late loss for the Sooners. The 6-foot-6 senior took just below his average for field-goal attempts (6.4) for the first eight games, which is a career-high mark for him. Hill has been an efficient shooter for the Sooners this season (47.1 percent), but his value is still limited due to his relatively low number of scoring chances. He'll look to continue playing a consistent role on the boards against UM-Kansas City on Tuesday.

Bijan Cortes - Plus contributions off the benchCortes ended with six points (2-3 FG, 2-3 3Pt), two rebounds, four assists and one steal across 20 minutes during Saturday's 70-66 loss to Villanova.
ImpactCortes made a significant impact off the bench for the second game in a row. Following a season-best 10-point performance against Mississippi, the 6-foot-3 sophomore notched a season-high in assists and three-point makes and attempts in this narrow loss. While Cortes did have flaws with his most fouls and turnovers in a game this season, he played at least 14 minutes for the fourth game in a row and appears to be growing into a bigger reserve role for the Sooners. His next chance to play will come against UM-Kansas City on Tuesday.

Tanner Groves - Sound shooting in lossGroves provided 14 points (6-12 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 2-4 FT), seven rebounds and five assists over 31 minutes during Saturday's 70-66 loss to Villanova.
ImpactGroves helped push the Wildcats to the brink, finishing as just one of three Sooners players to score more than six points in this narrow loss. However, the 6-foot-10 senior also committed three turnovers for the fifth time in his eight starts so far this season. Groves also continued to struggle from deep, decreasing his three-point shooting percentage to the lowest mark of his career (28 percent). While he hasn't been great from the charity stripe, converting just 1.5 of his 2.8 free-throw attempts per game, he still ranks second on the team in points per game (11.1) behind guard Grant Sherfield (16.3) and ahead of his brother Jacob Groves (9.3). Oklahoma's next game will come Tuesday against UM-Kansas City.

Jacob Groves - Solid outing in tight lossGroves logged 14 points (5-8 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three rebounds, three assists and one steal across 33 minutes during Saturday's 70-66 loss to Villanova.
ImpactGroves put up double-digit points for the fourth time this season, finishing as one of three Sooners players to eclipse 10 points in this last-minute loss to the Wildcats. The 6-foot-9 senior appears to have taken a real jump in his first season as a full-time starter, increasing his field-goal efficiency by 9.6 percent and his three-point shooting by 13.3 percent through eight games. Groves now sits third on the team in points per game (9.3) behind Grant Sherfield (16.3) and his brother Tanner Groves (11.1). He'll look to log another efficient performance against UM-Kansas City on Tuesday.

Grant Sherfield - Lights it up in lossSherfield totaled 21 points (7-16 FG, 6-8 3Pt, 1-1 FT), four rebounds and four assists across 38 minutes during Saturday's 70-66 loss to Villanova.
ImpactSherfield put up his second-best offensive performance of the 2022-23 campaign thus far, shooting above 43 percent from the field for the second time and a season-best 75 percent from beyond the arc. The Sooners' leading scorer has now logged at least 11 field-goal attempts in all but one game this year, and he's gone a fantastic 20-of-39 from three since transferring from Nevada this offseason. He also leads Oklahoma in assists per game while averaging an efficient 4.9:1.9 assist-to-turnover ratio. Sherfield should have a chance to get up plenty of more shots against UM-Kansas City on Tuesday.
