ImpactFollowing an exodus of players culminating in the departure of controversial head coach Gregg Marshall, the Wichita State program is at a bit of a crossroads. The rotation tightened up to just eight players in the opener, but that may be a symptom of depth (or lack thereof) as opposed to any systematic changes (the Shockers were missing a total of five players due to COVID protocol). Etienne at least appears to line for a big role after starting 17 of 31 games his freshman year and averaging 9.4 ppg. Operating at shooting guard with Trevin Wade running point, Etienne took seven more shots than any other WSU player. It will be interesting to see if this pattern continues when the Shockers draw a tougher matchup Sunday against Missouri.
