Will a national title contender emerge from the Big Ten?
Connor Essegian - Debuts in starting lineupEssegian ended with 10 points (4-7 FG, 2-4 3Pt), three rebounds and one steal across 33 minutes during Tuesday's 63-60 win over Penn State.
ImpactEssegian knocked down 4-of-7 shots finishing with 10 points and three rebounds in his first collegiate start, as Wisconsin took down Penn State. The 6-foot-4 freshman has been an extremely efficient sharpshooter for the Badgers this season, averaging 10.5 points on 45/45.6/92.9 shooting splits this season. Essegian looks to have earned the starting nod over Jordan Davis, but he will need to consistently excel to keep the role over a three-year veteran in Davis.

Markus Ilver - Usage non-existent after Wahl returnIlver (coach's decision) did not take the court in Tuesday's 63-60 victory over Penn State.
ImpactIlver had been in and out of the rotation leading up to a Tyler Wahl ankle injury, which has resulted in Ilver increasing his playing time to 13.8 ppg over his previous four contests. Wahl returned to the fold Tuesday and logged 33 minutes, however, which relegated Ilver back to the bench. The 6-8 sophomore will remain a fringe rotation option moving forward.

Steven Crowl - Logs double-double in winCrowl amassed 21 points (9-16 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 2-4 FT), 11 rebounds and two assists in 33 minutes during Tuesday's 63-60 win over Penn State.
ImpactCrowl still lead the Badgers even after Tyler Wahl returned in Tuesday's game. Bar a poor effort in the loss to Indiana on Jan. 14, Crowl is playing well with 17.8 points and 7.5 rebounds per game over the last five contests.

Jalen Pickett - Secures double-double in lossPickett had 19 points (8-15 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 2-4 FT), 12 rebounds and six assists over 40 minutes during Tuesday's 63-60 loss to Wisconsin.
ImpactPickett did what he could but a low-scoring game tends to work against the Nittany Lions. With a good average of 21.8 points, 8.4 rebounds and 6.4 assists per game across five games in 2023, Pickett continues to be a leader even when his team might struggle.

Kebba Njie - Logs two rebounds in lossNjie provided zero points (0-1 FG), two rebounds, one assist and one block across 17 minutes during Tuesday's 63-60 loss to Wisconsin.
ImpactNjie has started in seven straight games but failed to score on three different occasions. With just one win in their last four games, Njie seems to fit in for the Nittany Lions where no one else is able to step up.
