ImpactHolmes served as the Cyclones' top offensive distributor in this narrow win at the Phil Knight Invitational, as he dished out five assists to team-leading scorer Gabe Kalscheur (23 points, 8-19 FG, 5-15 3Pt). While the 6-foot-4 senior missed 10 field-goal attempts, he still logged double-digit points for the fourth game in a row. Holmes has averaged a career-high 16.8 points per game so far in the 2022-23 campaign, and he should continue to play an important all-around role on offense Friday against North Carolina.

ImpactOsunniyi logged a season high in points and rebounds while finishing as the Cyclones' second-leading scorer behind guard Gabe Kalscheur (23 points). The St. Bonaventure transfer has been an effective scorer over his first four games with Iowa State, falling only behind guard Jaren Holmes (16.8 points per game). However, The 6-foot-10 senior has seen a dip in his rebounding average (3.8) over his first four games at the Power-5 level. Osunniyi figures to serve an important role down low while battling with North Carolina center Armando Bacot on Friday afternoon.

Gabe Kalscheur - Paces Cyclones with 23 pointsKalscheur (hip) led the team to an upset win over Villanova Thursday and finished with 23 points (8-19 FG, 5-15 3Pt, 2-2 FT), four rebounds and three assists in 35 minutes.

ImpactKalscheur was limited to just six minutes earlier in the week while dealing with a hip injury and was questionable coming into Thursday's action. The Minnesota transfer saw over 30 minutes for the second time in four games and his 15 three-point attempts were the most he's taken in his career. Kalscheur has taken at least 10 shots in the three games he's been fully healthy for and appears to be developing into an offensive weapon for the Cyclones.
