Mason Gillis - Chips in 13 off bench Gillis had 13 points (5-10 FG, 3-8 3Pt) and six rebounds across 30 minutes in Friday's 81-87 charity exhibition loss to Arkansas.

Impact Gillis oddly didn't start this contest after serving as a part-time starter for Purdue in each of the last three seasons. That nod went to Trey Kaufman-Renn, though Gillis still logged over 10 minutes more than TKR as a reserve and attempted three more shots. Kaufman-Renn has been garnering praise as one of the most improved players on this year's team, but for now, Gillis still appears to be the more productive fantasy asset.

Fletcher Loyer - Scores 15 in exhibition loss Loyer had 15 points (6-13 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 4-4 FT), four rebounds and two assists across 32 minutes in Friday's 81-77 exhibition loss to Arkansas.

Impact With Zach Edey in foul trouble, Loyer and the backcourt were forced to carry much of the scoring, but it wasn't enough against a deep, re-tooled Arkansas roster. Loyer ended up seeing the second most minutes on the team, and took more shots than any other Boilermaker player. Loyer is the second-leading returning scorer after Edey, and Friday's usage was reflective of that role.

Zach Edey - Modest exhibition showing Edey had 15 points (4-8 FG, 7-8 FT) and nine rebounds across 24 minutes in Friday's 81-77 exhibition loss to Arkansas.

Impact Edey's limited run compared to the rest of the starters was presumably due to foul trouble, as he fouled out of this contest despite not fouling out of a single game last season. Still, his per-minute product and near double-double effort was reflective of the expectations heading into 2023-24 for the reigning National Player of the Year.

Trey Kaufman-Renn - Said to be most improved Purdue's head coach Matt Painter said Monday that Kaufman-Renn is his most improved player going into the 2023-24 season, according to Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports.

Impact Ideally for Kaufman-Renn, Painter saying the forward being his most improved player bodes well for better opportunities given to him. He averaged less than 12 minutes across his 35 games during Purdue's latest season, but actually drew the start over the likes of Mason Gillis and Caleb Furst in Saturday's charity exhibition. He still played significantly less minutes than Gillis, but managed to rack up nine points (4-7 FG, 1-4 FT) and three rebounds in 20 minutes. The team is looking for options to complement Naismith College Player of the Year Zach Edey. So if Painter truly means what he says, Kaufman-Renn could significantly boost his overall output soon.

Ethan Morton - Participates in exhibition game Morton (hamstring) logged four rebounds and one steal during Purdue's exhibition game Friday at Arkansas.

Impact Morton returned the next chance he got. The college senior will look to maintain his role from Purdue's 2022-23 season, when he started 29 games and averaged 25.1 minutes. Morton's projected output is not promising like his playing time though. He averaged 3.8 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.4 assists across the 35 games of Purdue's 2022-23 season.
