Impact Mela, who played 22 minutes in each of the first two games of the season, got his first start of the season Tuesday. He took advantage of his opportunity as he logged a double-double, ranking first on the team in rebounding and second in scoring. He made two of his four three-point attempts and went perfect on his six shots from inside the arc. He has showed his rebounding ability as well as some positive signs in the scoring department so far this season, so he's a name to watch as the season progresses.

Seven rebounds during exhibition Mela (lower leg) logged four points (1-4 FG, 2-3 FT), seven rebounds and one steal in 17 minutes during Pittsburgh's exhibition game Sunday against Providence.
Impact Mela came off Providence's bench, and it comes off as a reasonable benching considering the Friar depth available. As a starter last season, he particular showed promise in his last three games, averaging 14.7 points and 6.3 rebounds.

Impact It's unclear what ailment Mela is dealing with, but he appears somewhat limited in the preseason for the Friars. The sophomore forward had a solid freshman season, playing in 29 games with nine starts, averaging 6.2 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.9 assists across 19.5 minutes. Mela will look to heal up before the season tips off in early November.
