BJ Davis - Another strong game off the bench
Davis registered 16 points (5-8 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 5-5 FT), five rebounds, two assists, two blocks and two steals across 22 minutes during Wednesday's 89-71 victory over Lamar.
Impact
The junior was again efficient, just like he has been all year. Davis is scoring 12.6 points per contest and shooting 45.9 percent from the field, 97.1 percent from the free-throw line and 50.0 percent from three-point range. A starter a year ago, he seems to have found his role as the sixth man.

Magoon Gwath - Active in win
Gwath logged 10 points (5-12 FG, 0-2 3Pt), six rebounds, two blocks and one steal over 20 minutes during Wednesday's 89-71 victory over Lamar.
Impact
After an eventful offseason that saw him enter the transfer portal, decide to return to San Diego State and undergo knee surgery, Gwath made his season debut Nov. 18 against Troy and has started all five games since then. While his minutes have been a little up and down, he has logged at least 20 in four of his six contests this season. As the season goes on, the sophomore should be able to establish more consistency.

Miles Byrd - Does it all in win
Byrd registered 19 points (6-10 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 4-4 FT), five rebounds, four assists, two blocks and two steals across 30 minutes during Wednesday's 89-71 win over Lamar.
Impact
The junior led the Aztecs in minutes and did a little bit of everything during a comfortable win. Byrd has started all eight games this season after playing a starting role last year as well, and while he's averaging fewer points this year (10.6 to 12.3), he is shooting at a more efficient clip: 44.1 to 38.1.

ROTOWIRE
Miles Heide - Returns from injury
Heide (back) notched four points (2-3 FG, 0-1 3Pt) and seven rebounds across 17 minutes in Wednesday's 89-71 win over Lamar.
Impact
Heide was questionable due to a back problem, and while his 17-minute cameo wasn't eye-popping, he looked healthy enough to believe he might remain a starter. Heide has yet to miss a game this season.

Miles Heide - Suffers back injury Wednesday
Heide sustained a back injury in San Diego State's 77-66 win over Utah Valley, per Bernie Wilson of SI.com.
Impact
Heide only played five minutes in the Aztecs' win over Utah Valley, and it was due to a back injury that immediately knocked him out for the rest of the game. "Heide obviously went down, got undercut, fell on his back, so we couldn't use him," head coach Brian Dutcher said. The starting forward, who averages 4.4 points and 5.1 rebounds, will look to return against Lamar on Dec. 10.

Pharaoh Compton - Scores in double figures Wednesday
Compton totaled 12 points (5-8 FG, 2-2 FT), five rebounds, three blocks and two steals in 22 minutes during Wednesday's 77-66 victory over Utah Valley.
Impact
Compton was part of a bench unit that included three players, BJ Davis and Tae Simmons as well, who scored in double figures. The sophomore was active in general in this game, as he established new season highs in rebounds, blocks and steals. Compton has started once this year, but he is playing 15.1 minutes per game.

Tae Simmons - Sets new career high for points
Simmons produced 15 points (4-6 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 6-7 FT) and seven rebounds across 14 minutes during Wednesday's 77-66 victory over Utah Valley.
Impact
The freshman was part of a bench unit that had three players, including BJ Davis and Pharaoh Compton as well, who scored in double figures Wednesday. Simmons has only scored in double figures twice this year, but he has now played more than 10 minutes in each of the last two games. Perhaps he is beginning to play a role for the Aztecs.

Newman closed Wednesday's 91-81 loss to Baylor with 10 points (2-6 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 6-6 FT), three rebounds and six assists in 17 minutes.
Impact
The senior enjoyed his best scoring night of the young season to date. Overall, Newman is playing 15.3 minutes per game for the Aztecs, though he's started just once. He's averaging 2.8 points, 2.8 assists and 1.7 rebounds per contest.

Miles Heide - Continues to play starting role
Heide ended Wednesday's 91-81 loss to Baylor with zero points (0-1 FG), four rebounds, one assist, one block and one steal across 22 minutes.
Impact
It was not the junior's best game, but he did start for the fifth time in six contests this season. Even in the game he didn't start, on Nov. 18 against Troy, Heide still played 21 minutes. He's averaging 5.2 points and 5.5 rebounds on the year so far.
