Demoted to bench roleClark had zero points, three assists and three turnovers across 15 minutes off the bench in Tuesday's 76-51 victory over St. Francis PA.ImpactClark started all 30 games at point guard for the Cavaliers last season, so he was expected to have a pretty firm grip on the job in 2020-21. He did start the first two games of the season, tallying 16 points in 58 minutes, plus a combined five assists to four turnovers. It wasn't enough to prevent Virginia from suffering an embarrassing loss to San Francisco on Nov. 27, so coach Tony Bennett decided to shake things up and give four-star freshman Reece Beekman a chance to run point. Beekman didn't blow anyone away in the scoring department, registering two points on 1-for-3 shooting. He did, however, rack up four assists, three steals and two rebounds, all while not committing a single turnover. It remains unclear if that's enough for Beekman to lock down the job moving forward, or if Clark will get another chance. The next opportunity to find out will be a Friday matchup against Kent State.
