Big 25 points in opener victory Ashworth ended with 25 points (3-10 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 17-17 FT), seven rebounds and seven assists in 32 minutes during Wednesday's 99-86 win over UT Rio Grande Valley.

Impact Ashworth wasn't overly efficient on his shots with a field goal percentage of just 30, but he did make up for it by making all of his 17 free-throw attempts. The fifth-year guard should be relied on heavily for his scoring abilities with the Bluejays this season alongside dominant big-man Ryan Kalkbrenner who is also returning for a fith year. Ashworth will need to shoot better from the floor than he did against the Vaqueros; though, if Creighton hopes to beat tough Big East opponents that will follow as the season develops.

Impact Ashworth and Pop Isaacs took little time to gel and both had very strong showings in their first games together in the new Creighton backcourt. Ashworth and Isaacs should absorb most of the production vacated by Baylor Scheierman and Trey Alexander. Both Ashworth and Isaacs are capable ball distributors and can make shots at will from the perimeter. They will be a hard team to stop with Ryan Kalkbrenner controlling the paint.
