Will NCAA Tournament expand? Don't hold your breath
KJ Allen - DNP again SaturdayAllen (leg) did not play during the Red Raiders' 72-70 loss Saturday at Texas.
ImpactAllen sat out thrice across the Red Raiders' first half of January. Currently, their next game is when they host Baylor on Tuesday.

Fardaws Aimaq - Logs 12 points as backupAimaq logged 12 points (5-12 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 1-2 FT), five rebounds and two assists across 29 minutes during the Red Raiders' 72-70 loss Saturday at Texas.
ImpactSaturday indicated Aimaq has no problems attempting field goals and scoring points despite not playing multiple games since March. He is expected to be part of the Red Raiders' starting lineup again sooner than later. Before transferring from Utah Valley, Aimaq averaged 18.9 points during his junior year. That rate does not warrant him being a backup.

Sir'Jabari Rice - Logs season-high 18 pointsRice racked up 18 points (4-10 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 8-10 FT), two rebounds, four assists, two blocks and two steals over 29 minutes during Saturday's 72-70 win over Texas Tech.
ImpactRice logged his sixth double-digit scoring performance of the season, finishing with the Longhorns' second-most points behind starting shooting guard Marcus Carr (20) on Saturday. The reserve guard opened the season in a minimal role after transferring from New Mexico State this offseason. However, he's now averaged 12.8 points, 4.4 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.4 steals while playing 23.6 minutes across the last five games in conference play. Rice has also converted 90.3 percent of his 6.2 free-throw tries per game during this span. These solid returns will likely continue to net him an increased role behind Carr and starting point guard Tyrese Hunter moving forward.

Marcus Carr - Breaks recent scoring slumpCarr provided 20 points (7-18 FG, 4-13 3Pt, 2-3 FT), six rebounds and three assists across 33 minutes during Saturday's 72-70 win over Texas Tech.
ImpactCarr posted 20 or more points for the fourth time this season after putting up 11 and 12 over the Longhorns' previous two games. This was thanks in part to his 13 three-point attempts, marking his second most in a game this season. Carr has still been Texas' best scorer with 17.5 points per game while also converting 45.1 percent of his team-high 13.2 field-goal attempts per game. He's also been one of the conference's best three-point shooters, converting 41.1 percent of his 6.6 tries from beyond the arc per game.

Kevin Obanor - 10 boards in tight defeatObanor registered eight points (3-8 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 2-4 FT), 10 rebounds and one steal across 33 minutes during Saturday's 72-70 loss to Texas.
ImpactObanor posted at least 10 rebounds for the second time this season, as 6-foot-6 forward KJ Allen (leg) missed his third game in a row. The 6-foot-8 senior has been the Red Raiders' most productive player this season, averaging a career-high 15.4 points to go along with 6.3 rebounds per game. He has also logged 10.4 field-goal tries and 4.4 free-throw attempts per game, though he's hit a rough patch with 15 points on 12 combined field-goal attempts over the past two games. Obanor will look to bounce back Tuesday against Baylor.
JANUARY 15, 2023•ROTOWIRE
Jaylon Tyson - Posts first double-doubleTyson supplied 12 points (5-9 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 1-2 FT), 14 rebounds and one assist across 37 minutes before fouling out of Saturday's 72-70 loss to Texas.
ImpactTyson logged the first double-double of his career thanks to his career-high 14 boards. The 6-foot-7 sophomore had to serve a big role on the boards with 6-foot-6 junior KJ Allen (leg) missing his third game in a row Saturday. Tyson has now posted double-digit points in eight of his 16 starts this season, as he's converted 47.9 of his 7.4 field-goal tries per game. Tyson will likely continue to play an increased role so long as Allen remains sidelined moving forward.
