Retreats to the bench Nickel is not listed amongst Virginia Tech's starters ahead of Wednesday's showdown with Virginia.

Impact Nickel will return to the bench as Hunter Cattoor (head) reclaims his spot in the starting five. The 6-foot-7 sophomore has appeared in 15 games this season (seven starts), averaging 9.1 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.5 assists on 26 minutes per game. Nickel will presumably remain involved in the Hokies rotation despite shifting back to the bench.

Starting Saturday night Nickel will start Saturday against Miami for an injured Hunter Cattoor (undisclosed), someones reports.

Impact Nickel will record his seventh start of the season against the conference opponent. The 6-foot-7 forward averages 9.4 points and 2.1 rebounds on 25.2 minutes this year, and will look to continue his role for the Hokies especially after a 24 point game in their most recent win over Clemson on Wednesday.

Scores 24 points in win Nickel ended with 24 points (8-11 FG, 5-7 3Pt, 3-4 FT), four rebounds, one assist, one block and one steal in 28 minutes during Wednesday's 87-72 win over Clemson.

Impact Nickel was one of the main reasons the Hokies pulled the upset against the Tigers, as he missed just three shots from the field while reaching a season-high mark in scoring. Nickel has eight double-digit scoring appearances this season.

Rejoins starting unit Nickel will start Saturday's game against Florida State, Chad Bishop of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Impact Nickel is coming off a solid effort against Wake Forest, and his strong play has earned him a spot back in the starting unit after dropping out for the last contest. MJ Collins will slide back to the bench in his place after an uninspiring showing from Collins last time out.

A reliable scorer for Virginia Tech regardless of whether he plays in the starting unit or the bench, Nickel has scored in double digits in six of his 10 appearances.
