Impact Longino's freshman season ended in late-March after he underwent knee surgery, but he was apparently given full clearance this summer -- a notion confirmed by his presence in warmups Monday. He only averaged 8.7 mpg in 26 appearances last season, but that role will likely grow due to several key backcourt losses, in addition to the fact that Justin Moore (Achilles) and Cam Whitmore (thumb) are both expected to be out for the foreseeable future.

Cam Whitmore - Big East Preseason Freshman of the Year Whitmore (thumb) has been named the Big East Preseason Freshman of the Year.
Impact Whitmore was the Most Outstanding Player at the FIBA U18 Americas Championship and helped led the U.S. team to a gold medal. Whitmore ranked No. 21 in the ESPN Top 100 Class of 2022. He recently suffered a thumb injury in practice that will require surgery and will likely miss the start of the season. When healthy Whitmore should take on a big role in the Villanova offense, though.

Impact Moore has been one of Villanova's best players over the last three years, but he'll likely miss the start of the 2022-23 regular-season while rehabbing from a torn Achilles. It's encouraging to see him already back doing basketball activities, but it sounds likes he still has plenty of hurdles to clear before returning to game action. Per John Fanta of Fox Sports, Moore was initially targeting a return during Big East play, which begins late-December, but there's no firm timetable for his return. In Moore's absence, expect Mark Armstrong and Caleb Daniels to garner increased roles in Villanova's backcourt.
