Impact Sherman missed a Feb. 9 contest against Texas Tech with an ankle injury, and while he was initially reported to be in the starting five Saturday, coach Bob Huggins ultimately decided to keep the senior in a limited reserve role. Even with the contest going to overtime, Sherman was held to his lowest minutes total of conference play, snapping a streak of eight consecutive games in double figures. Sean McNeil has rose to the occasion in his stead, scoring 26 and 21 points in the last two contests.

Impact Efficiency was an issue for McBride, but the sophomore guard still bludgeoned his way to another strong stat line thanks to his high-usage role and his rebounding production. He also provided one of the Mountaineers' more important buckets of the afternoon, as his layup with 41 seconds remaining in the second overtime period briefly gave West Virginia a one-point lead. After being held in single digits in scoring in back-to-back games Jan. 30 and Feb. 2, McBride has seemingly gotten back in track over his last three contests, averaging 23.3 points on 43.3 percent shooting from the field to go with 6.3 assists, 5.7 rebounds, 2.3 triples and 1.0 steals over that span.

Impact McNeil replaced Taz Sherman in the starting five for the second game in a row, and he once again made a strong case for a permanent spot on the top unit. After erupting for a season-high 26 points in a win over Texas Tech on Tuesday, McNeil cleared the 20-point mark again thanks to some hot shooting from long range. The junior guard is now averaging 2.3 three-pointers per game on the season, converting them at a robust 38.8 percent clip.

Impact Culver had been limited to just 6.5 points per game in his previous six matchups with the Sooners, but he ended that trend in emphatic fashion Saturday. Though his efforts weren't enough to lead the Mountaineers to a win, Culver was the top player from either side in the second overtime period, when he collected seven of his points. He ultimately came up short on three potential game-winning shot attempts, however, as he had a layup blocked with seven seconds remaining before missing a pair of buckets near the rim while he was being swarmed by multiple Sooners defenders.
