Tyson Acuff - Multiple season highsAcuff closed Monday's 75-63 loss to Wisconsin with 17 points (6-15 FG, 3-8 3Pt, 2-2 FT), two rebounds and two assists in 30 minutes.
ImpactWisconsin isn't typically the team to be setting season highs against, but Acuff did just that with his scoring, minutes and attempted field goals. Much of that can be attributed to the usage of Dylan Harper, who saw significantly limited run due to an illness that had forced him to sit out the previous game as well. Acuff, a two-time transfer, should remain a role player moving forward at his first Power 5 school.
1 DAY AGOROTOWIRE
Jamichael Davis - Contributing offensivelyDavis amassed nine points (4-10 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 0-1 FT), three rebounds, two assists and two steals over 29 minutes during Monday's 75-63 loss to Wisconsin.
ImpactDavis opened the season as a bench player, even going scoreless for a five-game stretch that started in late-November. He made his way into the starting five on Dec. 10 in favor of Jordan Derkeck and has stayed there for the six games since. The scoring picked up only recently, with the sophomore putting up nine or more points in three consecutive games. He's also contributed defensively, recording nine steals in his last four contests. Some of the shot volume increase can be attributed to the absence of Dylan Harper, who recently missed a game due to illness and was greatly limited Monday because of the same ailment.
1 DAY AGOROTOWIRE
John Tonje - Scoring back upTonje closed with 15 points (6-12 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT), nine rebounds, two assists, two blocks and one steal in 32 minutes during Monday's 75-63 victory over Rutgers.
ImpactTonje started the season on a tear, averaging 22.3 ppg over the Badgers' first nine contests. He's slowed down since then, posting just 12.5 ppg over the team's next six games, with Monday's output representing his best scoring total of that stretch. What's encouraging is that he did it while getting to the free-throw line only twice, which has been one of his primary scoring methods so far in 2024-25. The Badgers will need the two-time transfer to get in stay hot if they hope to be contenders in Big Ten play.
1 DAY AGOROTOWIRE
Dylan Harper - Limited greatly by illnessHarper closed with zero points (0-2 FG, 0-1 3Pt), four rebounds, one assist and one block over 15 minutes during Monday's 75-63 loss to Wisconsin.
ImpactWhile Harper was able to re-enter the starting lineup despite being questionable due to the illness that forced him to sit out last Thursday, he was still clearly being hampered by the ailment. Harper was held scoreless for the first time all season, in addition to this contest being the first single game in which he's played under 30 minutes. The All-American candidate has just a few more days to recover before another important conference matchup against Purdue on Thursday.
