Impact Booker will make his first start of the season against the Buckeyes, replacing fellow center Mady Sissoko in the starting lineup. The talented freshman has been slowly working his way into the rotation for the Spartans and has apparently earned his opportunity to compete for a starting role.

Impact Booker did not play in the previous game against Incarnate Word which was his fourth DNP of the season. Thursday not only will he play but the talented freshman will get the start over Malik Hall and next to Mady Sissoko in the frontcourt.

Impact Booker's minutes have been a bit inconsistent to begin the season, as Saturday was the fourth game of the year he's missed despite no injury ever getting reported. In his stead, Mady Sissoko saw a slight bump in minutes, with Carson Cooper serving as the primary backup. Booker's minutes likely won't improve in the immediate future, as Jaxon Kohler (foot) recently returned to practice, and he represents even more competition for frontcourt playing time.

Modest in Sparty debut Booker had six points (2-4 FG, 2-3 3Pt), three rebounds and three blocks across 16 minutes in Michigan State's 85-43 exhibition victory over Hilldale on Wednesday.
Impact Booker may be the five-star recruit, but as is typical for a Tom Izzo-coached team, incumbent Mady Sissoko -- who had nine points and six boards in 17 minutes -- started the contest at center. Furthermore, 6-11 sophomore Carson Cooper produced 13 points (tied for a team-high) and seven boards across 20 minutes off the bench. MSU gets a big step up in competition when it plays Tennessee in a charity exhibition Sunday, so that might serve as a better indicator of Booker's spot in the rotation when the regular season arrives.
