Paul Scruggs - Costly mistake ends season Scruggs fouled out of Wednesday's 89-82 1OT loss to Butler after recording 15 points (7-13 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 0-3 FT), three rebounds, six assists and one block across 39 minutes.

Impact Scruggs scored efficiently and supplied a team-high six assists, but missed three free-throws with under a minute to play. Most notably, Scruggs went to the line after drawing a foul while sinking a spectacular shot, but failed to convert. He then proceeded to foul Simas Lukosius with Xavier only winning by two points -- fouling out in the process. Butler eventually earned the victory, resulting in a brutal exit for the fifth-year senior...barring luck from the NCAA selection committee.

Colby Jones - Chokes in loss Jones amassed 14 points (6-13 FG, 2-7 FT), six rebounds, three assists and one steal over 40 minutes during Wednesday's 89-82 1OT loss to Butler.

Impact Jones logged a well-rounded effort and was one of four Xavier starters with double-digit scoring. However, Jones' outing will be defined by missing a pair of free throws with under a minute to play -- allowing Butler to ultimately force overtime. Xavier is a bubble team, but likely sitting firmly on the outside after this defeat. Jones averaged 11.1 points, 7.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists in his sophomore season.

The senior wraps up the regular season averaging 11.9 points, 4.2 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game with a 42.5/33.0/69.1 shooting slash. Scruggs will look to boost his career stock on a big stage starting Wednesday, when Xavier matches up against Butler to kick off the Big East Tournament.

Impact Johnson and the Musketeers have hit a rough patch of late, dropping five in row to potentially erase some of the good will built up by the early-season resume. On the bright side, Johnson was able to return from a four-game absence last Wednesday, and he resumed his starting role on senior night. That led to his highest single-game scoring total since Nov. 26 when he poured in 30 against Virginia Tech in non-conference play. Granted, Saturday's effort occurred against the last-place Hoyas, but it was still a building block for a team in desperate need of momentum entering the Big East tournament.

Impact Odom started each of Xavier's last five games while Nate Johnson was dealing with a knee injury, but now he's back on the bench with the latter being available to start. Odom averaged 8.0 points and 2.4 assists per game in that five-game stretch as a starter.
