Remainder of season canceled The remainder of New Mexico State's 2022-23 season has been canceled, according to ESPN.com.

Impact A police report was filed against three New Mexico State players for false imprisonment, harassment and counts of criminal sexual conduct after repeated hazing to one of their teammates. The cancellation will eliminate five games the Aggies were supposed to play from Feb. 5 to March 3. The team will finish this ongoing season with a 9-15 record, 2-10 against Western Athletic Conference teams. It is unclear when exactly the Aggies' basketball program will return. At the moment, the earliest New Mexico State can be back is the 2023-24 NCAA season.

Program suspended indefinitely New Mexico State's matchup with California Baptist on Saturday has been canceled as its basketball program has been suspended indefinitely, Jeff Goodman of Stadium reports.

Impact The program has been suspended due to "new allegations", and its coaches have been placed on administrative leave. Wednesday's matchup with Abilene Christian is also in jeopardy.

Cleared by NCAA Aggies head coach Greg Heiar said Monday that Pinson (not injury related) has been cleared to play, Jeff Goodman of Stadium reports.

Impact Pinson had been waiting to hear back from the NCAA regarding his eligibility waiver for 2022-23, but it appears the guard has successfully gained clearance ahead of Monday's season opener against New Mexico Highlands. Pinson averaged 9.8 points, 4.8 assists and 1.9 steals across 28.0 minutes per contest last season at LSU, and he should be one of the Aggies' key pieces this season in his final year of eligibility.

Impact Fortunately for Pinson, he can still practice and travel with New Mexico State's basketball team. The problem is that his eligibility waiver continues to be in limbo with the NCAA. Pinson will try to gain clearance before the opening night matchup scheduled against New Mexico Highlands on Nov. 7.
