Immediately eligible for Tigers Martin was granted a waiver by the NCAA for immediate eligibility in the 2020-21 season, Edward Lee of the Baltimore Sun reports. Impact This is a unique situation for Martin and the Towson program, as Martin started all 32 games there in the 2017-18 season, averaging 19.8 points across 30.2 minutes. Feeling under-recruited by higher-level programs, Martin tried his luck on the transfer market and landed at New Mexico. After sitting out the 2018-19 season, he ended up starting 18 of a possible 33 games, producing 10.1 points, 2.9 rebounds and 3.1 assists. He again entered the transfer market and received offers from the likes of Temple, Saint Joseph's and Delaware, but ultimately elected to return to Towson after reconciling with coach Pat Skerry. The Tigers saw most of the backcourt minutes handled by a pair of freshman in Jason Gibson and Nicolas Timberlake in 2019-20, but lose three more starters in Brian Fobbs, Dennis Turnstall and Nakye Sanders. There will be plenty of minutes up for grabs, and likely a clear path for Martin to take back over starting point guard duties.
