Impact It's unclear what kind of issue Kern in battling or if he is in actual risk of missing the opener against Rice on Sept. 4. Kern is expected to be the top tight end this season for the Razorbacks.

Impact Crawford and freshman Ketron Jackson got time with the first-team offense during Saturday's scrimmage with both Treylon Burks (undisclosed) and DeVion Warren (hamstring) sitting out, suggesting they are the next two on the depth chart with the regular season approaching. Crawford joined the Hogs after transferring from Oklahoma prior to the 2020 campaign and has reportedly lined up in the slot with the first-team offense a lot this fall. He has shared some time with John David White and Harper Cole in the spot, so the Week 1 depth chart should put a final word in on the expected role for him.

Impact Jackson has been "one of our top three receivers" in practice according to head coach Sam Pittman, suggesting the freshman could be on his way to considerable playing time this fall. The four-star recruit certainly has the build (6-foot-2, 205 pounds) to take on a starting role to open his career and looks to have the skill as well. He seems destined for a starting role on the Week 1 depth chart unless things change over the next week.
