Tyler Crowe - Paces Boise rushers Crowe had seven carries for 45 yards against UTEP.
Impact Crowe had the best rushing performance among the Boise State backs, averaging 6.4 yards per carry and leading the team in yards. With other running backs struggling thus far, Crowe could work his way further into the mix. That said, Friday's game was lopsided, so his role will become more clear when Boise State is locked in a competitive contest.

George Holani - Scores in 2021 debut Holani had five carries for 22 yards and a touchdown against UTEP.
Impact This was Holani's first action of the season after missing the opener. He wasn't needed much but made his presence known with an early touchdown. Boise State has yet to find traction in the ground game this season, Holani or not, as the Broncos averaged just 3.3 YPC against UTEP.

Stefan Cobbs - Electric performance Friday Cobbs caught a 61-yard touchdown Friday and added a punt return touchdown against UTEP.
Impact Khalil Shakir is the alpha of the Boise State receiving corps but Cobbs is showing promise. Cobbs has recorded at least 60 yards receiving in each of the first two games and his punt return underlined his ability in the open field. He will face Oklahoma State in Week 3.

Hank Bachmeier - Efficient in win Bachmeier completed 17 of 24 passes for 340 yards and two touchdowns against UTEP.
Impact Bachmeier and the Boise State offense cruised all night Friday and got out to a comfortable lead. The junior quarterback completed 70 percent of his passes at 14.2 YPA. Bachmeier gets a tougher challenge Week 3 when Oklahoma State comes to Boise.

Khalil Shakir - Shreds UTEP Shakir caught seven passes for 166 yards against UTEP.
Impact Though Shakir was held out of the end zone, he was still a dominant presence on a night where Boise State cruised to victory. Shakir is up to 12 catches for 257 yards and two scores through two games and has a chance to impress against a Power Five opponent next week when Oklahoma State comes to the Blue Turf.

George Holani - Warming up Friday Holani (undisclosed) is on the field for pregarm warmups ahead of Friday's matchup with UTEP, Ron Counts of the Idaho Statesman reports.
Impact It should be noted Holani was also on the field for warmups prior to last week's opener against UCF before ultimately getting ruled out. Still, it's a positive sign to go along with previous reports that he is expected to play Friday.

George Holani - Expected to return Friday Holani (undisclosed) is expected to be available for Friday's game against UTEP, B.J. Rains of the Idaho Press reports.
Impact Holani was a late scratch ahead of the season opener against UCF but it appears the redshirt sophomore is planning to make a return to the field Friday night. The Broncos carried the ball 26 times and managed just 20 total yards on the ground last week. They were dead last in the Mountain West in rushing in 2020 after Holani played in just three games. He'll provide a major boost to their rushing attack if he's able to give it a go.

Impact Octavius Evans and Khalil Shakir led the way for the Bronco pass catchers but Cobbs was plenty involved as well, tying for second on the team in targets. Cobbs reeled in four of his six targets and averaged over 10.0 YPT. He will face UTEP in Week 2.

Impact Van Buren was the surprise leader of the backfield in the opener with George Holani not playing. He and Cyrus Habibi-Likio split the work but neither was effective against the Knights's defense. Look for Van Buren and the Boise State run game to have an easier time gaining traction Friday against UTEP.
