Enters transfer portal
Campbell announced via social media that he has decided to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal, Jon reports.
Impact
Campbell has decided to enter the portal in search of a better opportunity after one season at UMass. The junior running back totaled 64 carries for 239 yards and three touchdowns across 10 games.

Leads Minutemen in rushing
Campbell totaled eight rushes for 63 yards and one touchdown during Saturday's 35-7 victory over Wagner.
Impact
The Houston transfer had his best day as a Minutemen on the ground. The junior has registered at least eight carries per game in the last four games. The four-yard touchdown run against FCS Wagner was only the second this season for Campbell. The Minutemen take on Mississippi State next on Nov. 2. The Bulldogs defense is near the bottom in the country against the run, but the Bulldogs have faced three of the top 10 teams in the nation.

Hits paydirt in win
Campbell had nine carries for four yards and one touchdown and hauled in all three targets for 34 yards during Saturday's 35-31 win against Central Connecticut State.
Impact
It was Campbell's first touchdown as a Minuteman. But he could not continue the momentum he had from the previous week where he ran for 36 yards on eight carries against Buffalo. The Houston transfer is still struggling to find his fit with UMass. The nine carries against Central Connecticut State does show that the coaches are giving him chances. If he gets carries, Campbell could pile up some yardage on Sept. 28 against Miami (Ohio) whose run defense is near the bottom in the country.

Lands with UMass
Campbell transferred to UMass, per the program's roster.
Impact
Campbell is coming off a quiet season for Houston, recording 18 carries for 46 yards. The year prior, however, he ran for 435 yards and four touchdowns with the Cougars, so the workhorse ability is there. He'll look to revitalize his career with the Minutemen.

Ready to play Friday
Houston coach Dana Holgorsen said Wednesday that Campbell (ankle) is "ready to go" and will play Friday against Tulane, Joseph Duarte of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Impact
Campbell missed last Saturday's game versus Rice with an ankle injury. In three games in 2022, the redshirt freshman has logged 36 carries for 177 yards and two touchdowns, while also adding 9 receptions for 76 yards through the air. Campbell is in line to resume his role as Houston's top running back.

Out against Rice
Campbell (ankle) will not play Saturday against Rice, Joseph Duarte of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Impact
Houston will be without its leading rusher for Saturday's game against the Owls. Ta'Zhawn Henry projects to lead the Houston backfield in Campbell's absence. Campbell's next chance to return comes Friday against Tulane.

Scores in starting role
Campbell rushed for 80 yards and one touchdown on to go along with four receptions for 54 yards in Saturday's 33-30 loss to Texas Tech.
Impact
Campbell started at running back for the Cougars with Ta'Zhawn Henry playing a limited role upon his return from an ankle injury. It is unclear if Campbell will return as the No. 1 running back for Saturday's matchup against Kansas, though Henry had just six total touches in the loss. Campbell will likely continue to see heavy usage after his big game on the ground.

Transfers to Houston
Campbell has elected to transfer from USC to Houston, Joseph Duarte of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Impact
Campbell's decision comes just days after it was revealed that expected starter Alton McCaskill suffered a torn ACL and is headed for surgery. With Mulbah Car also gone, there's minimal experience at the running back position behind Ta'Zawn Henry, potentially allowing Campbell to find an immediate role after posting just 12 carries for 53 yards as a freshman with the Trojans last season.

On Week 1 chart
Campbell (undisclosed) is listed as the fifth running back on USC's depth chart for the opener versus San Jose State, Shotgun Spratling of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Impact
Campbell doesn't seem likely to be a major part of the backfield as a freshman this season but could eventually add his name to the mix when spots open up.
