Leading charge for starting job Head coach Nick Saban spoke to the media Thursday and said that Young is the team's quarterback for right now, Mike Rodak of AL.com reports. Impact Saban mentioned that he's been happy with Young's progress throughout the spring and said he'll be the first-team quarterback for Saturday's A-Day spring game. Young was in the running last fall to be the team's starting quarterback entering the season but ultimately lost out on the chance to Heisman finalist Mac Jones. With Jones departing for the NFL Draft, Young has a prime opportunity to secure the No. 1 job and try to lead the Tide to a second consecutive National Championship. The 6-0 freshman was the top-ranked dual-threat quarterback in the 2020 recruiting class and completed 13-of-22 attempts for 156 yards and a touchdown during limited action last season.
