Impact McDowell was third in the pecking order behind Raheim Sanders (foot) and Oscar Adaway but got to see more opportunties after Sanders exited early in the game. The senior running back scored his first touchdown of the season on a 12-yard pass from quarterback Robby Ashford. Should Sanders be held out, the 5-foot-9 ball-carrier should see an expanded role.

Impact McDowell was inactive this spring as he continued to rehab the collarbone injury that held him out of the final two games of South Carolina's 2023 season. Now, the tailback appears to be full go and has rejoined the Gamecocks for practice. Last season, he posted just 63 yards rushing and two scores, but also tackled on 11 catches for 105 yards and a touchdown.

Impact The running back was limited with an undisclosed injury to end last week, but he appears ready to go for the upcoming season after practicing Thursday. McDowell played in 11 games last season, rushing 52 times for 248 yards and two scores while also reeling in nine catches for 53 yards. He was also spotted returning kicks with the special teams unit Thursday, potentially setting him up for a larger role this season.
