ImpactLeonard wasn't needed to do the heavy lifting against Georgia. The Irish offense was helped by the Notre Dame defense and special teams. The passing yardage for the Duke transfer was the lowest since when he played for the Blue Devils against Florida State (69 yards) in 2023. In facing Penn State in the College Football Playoff semifinal, they will take on a Nittany Lions pass defense that was in the top 30 in the country. But in the CFP quarterfinal, the Penn State defense allowed Boise State quarterback Maddux Madsen to throw for 304 yards. Leonard also led the Irish in rushing against Georgia, but the Nittany Lions defense against the run is top 10 in the country.
