Victor Tucker - Nets 33 yards Tucker caught four passes for 33 yards against Gardner-Webb on Saturday.

Impact These are disappointing numbers from Tucker in a matchup with an FCS team. However, the issue is more with quarterback Chris Reynolds, who had an off night in an easy win. Last week Tucker had twice as many catches for 100 more yards, so this could just be a lost opportunity and nothing more concerning.

Calvin Camp - Rushes for TD Camp rushed seven times for 65 yards and a score against Gardner-Webb on Saturday.

Impact The 49ers were able to run all over the FCS Bulldogs to the tune of 46 carries for 306 yards and four touchdowns. Camp was just a piece of that action. He seems pretty clearly behind Shadrick Byrd on the depth chart, and not every game will be this easy for Charlotte.

J.K. Dobbins - Throws TD, two INTs Reynolds went 10-for-17 for 103 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions against Gardner-Webb on Saturday. He did rush four times for 60 yards and a score, though.

Impact Well, you'd want better numbers against an FCS team. On the other hand, Reynolds threw for three touchdowns against Duke last week. Plus, he's now rushed for 97 yards and two touchdowns on the season, showing what the senior can do with his legs.

Impact This is a nice way to start the season after a trying 2020. The redshirt senior only got to play in six games last year, though he did still manage 400 yards. If everything shakes out right this year, Tucker should manage 1,000 yards receiving from quarterback Chris Reynolds.

Shadrick Byrd - Catches TD but struggles on ground Byrd only rushed 10 times for 30 yards against Duke on Friday. He also caught one pass for an 11-yard touchdown.

Impact Byrd rose to the top of the depth chart after Charlotte's top-two rushers from 2020 graduated. While the back did get the most carries, he didn't do much with that. That could lead to him falling down the depth chart, and fast.

J.K. Dobbins - Paces offense in win Reynolds went 19-for-30 for 324 yards and three touchdowns against Duke on Friday. He also rushed 10 times for 37 yards and a score.

Impact The 49ers really needed Reynolds in this one, as he accounted for all four of their touchdowns in a 31-28 win. The quarterback's numbers dipped in 2020, but Charlotte had a particularly chaotic campaign. In 2019 he threw for 22 touchdowns against 11 interceptions and added 791 yards and six scores on the ground.

Shadrick Byrd - Listed as Week 1 starter Byrd is listed atop Charlotte's running back depth chart for Week 1 versus Duke.

Impact Byrd was believed to be the favorite to land that gig and was considered one of the favorites to land the starting gig for the 49ers to open the season. It appears that is indeed the case and there are 117 carries vacated from last year's team following the departures of Tre Harbison and Aaron McAllister.

Shadrick Byrd - Candidate to start Byrd has been explosive in camp and may be the top candidate to open the season as the 49ers' starting running back, Jake Auten of Underdog Dynasty reports.

Impact Byrd transferred to Charlotte from Iowa prior to the 2021 campaign and appears to have set himself up for a potentially large role in the backfield. Charlotte's two leading rushers from a season ago, Tre Harbison and Aaron McAllister, combined for 117 carries over six games last season and are both gone, so there could be room for a sizeable workload for Byrd if he ultimately claims the job.
