Tommy DeVito - Airs it out ThursdayDeVito completed 23 of his 31 passes for 329 yards and three touchdowns during Thursday's 31-0 win over Chattanooga. He also added 14 yards on four rushes.
ImpactDeVito registered the most prolific passing performance since his first season as a starting quarterback for Syracuse in 2019. The senior transfer tossed 12 completions of 10-plus yards while connecting on a season-high 74.2 percent of his passes during this blowout over FCS opponent Chattanooga. However, DeVito's longest completion came on a 63-yard catch-and-run touchdown off of a three a three-yard hitch route to Isaiah Williams in the third quarter, and he'll be faced with a much tougher passing defense during next week's road game against Wisconsin.

Chase Brown - Finds endzone in winBrown carried 20 times for 108 yards and one touchdown and hauled in both of his targets for six yards during Saturday's 31-0 win over Chattanooga.
ImpactBrown averaged his lowest yards per carry (5.4) despite rushing for over 100 yards for the fourth straight game to begin the 2022 season. The 205-pound back did find his way back into the endzone for the first time since Illinois' season opener, as he pounded in a nine-yard rushing touchdown to get the scoring started during Thursday's blowout win. Brown currently sits as the Big Ten's second-leading rusher in yards per game (151.0) behind Minnesota's Mohamed Ibrahim, and he should continue to see heavy usage during the Fighting Illini's conference scheduling, which starts next week against Wisconsin.

Pat Bryant - Leading receiver ThursdayBryant tallied six receptions (seven targets) for 112 yards and a touchdown during Thursday's 31-0 win over Chattanooga. He also recorded one three-yard rush.
ImpactBryant paced the Fighting Illini's receiving corps in yards as quarterback Tommy DeVito passed for a season-high 329 yards against FCS foe Chattanooga. While the 6-foot-3 pass catcher did have a 79-yard screen-pass touchdown nullified by a holding penalty in the first quarter, he still managed to get back into the endzone for the second time this season with a 17-yard receiving score in the second quarter. Bryant now sits as Illinois' second-leading wideout (13 receptions, 18 targets, 259 yards) behind slot receiver Isaiah Williams (28 receptions, 39 targets, 260 yards) this season, though he'll likely continue to split targets with junior Brian Hightower (12 receptions, 18 targets, 120 yards) moving forward.

Isaiah Williams - Houses 63-yard scoreWilliams caught all nine of his passes for 103 yards and a touchdown during Thursday's 31-0 win over Chattanooga.
ImpactWilliams once again paced the Fighting Illini's receiving corps in targets while doing the majority of his work within 10 yards of the line of scrimmage. The sophomore slot averaged five yards per reception outside of his 63-yard catch-and-run touchdown scored off of a three-yard hitch route from quarterback Tommy DeVito in the third quarter. Williams has now recorded twice as many targets (39) and receptions (28) as Illinois' next closest receiver this season, and he should continue to receive plenty of short passes during Big Ten play.
