Impact The 6-foot-2 receiver led all Bearcats in catches as the team dominated the RedHawks. Thompson set a career high in both catches and yards as he only had six catches the entirety of last season. The sophomore figures to be more involved in the offense as he continues to develop a connection with quarterback Desmond Ridder.

Impact After a season ending knee injury last season, McClelland returned to the Bearcats lineup and ran well in the season opener. Ridder accounted for five total touchdowns, including an 81 yard cannon to Tyler Scott on his first pass attempt of the season. The 6-foot-4 quarterback was nearly perfect, only missing five of his 25 pass attempts although one of the misfires turned into an interception. Ridder will look to continue to cement himself as an elite college football quarterback next week when the Bearcats face Murray State.
