Announces move to NFL Stroud announced Monday via his personal Twitter account that he will forgo his remaining eligibility at Ohio State to enter the 2023 NFL Draft.

After taking a redshirt during his first year in Columbus in 2020, Stroud stepped into a starting role following Heisman Trophy finalist Justin Fields' move to the NFL and ensured the Buckeyes offense didn't miss a beat. Over his two seasons as a starter, Stroud completed 69.3 percent of his passes for 8,123 yards, 85 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. With Stroud embarking on a professional career, the Buckeyes have Kyle McCord on hand as the top internal option to replace him as the team's starting quarterback in 2023.

Dazzles in CFP loss Stroud was 23-for-34 passing for 348 yards and four touchdowns during Saturday's 42-41 loss against Georgia. He also had 12 rushes for 34 yards.

Impact Stroud saved his best performance for his last, logging a season-high 382 total yards in Saturday's semi-final. The second-year starter, who has often been criticized for his struggles in the face of intense defensive pressure, did a very good job navigating the pocket and escaping the Bulldogs' elite defensive front. One of his best plays of the night came when he scrambled out of a would-be sack to deliver an off-platform 16-yard touchdown pass to top wideout Marvin Harrison (concussion) in the right corner of the end zone. The Heisman finalist was kept clean by Ohio State's pristine pass blocking for much of the night, though he posed a true threat with his legs for the second time this season. This included a 27-yard scramble with under one minute remaining that set up the Buckeyes for a potential game-winning field goal. However, this 50-yard attempt ultimately flew wide left, ending the team's national championship hopes on a heartbreaking note. Stroud finished his 2022 campaign with 3,688 passing yards and 41 touchdowns to six interceptions while completing 66.3 percent of his passes over 13 games, and he should be a virtual lock for one of the top picks in the 2023 NFL Draft.
