Takes over for struggling Drones Schlee was 7-for-17 passing for 73 yards, one touchdown and one interception during Saturday's 24-14 defeat versus Clemson. He also had five rushes for 28 yards.

Impact Schlee took over in the third quarter after a Drones interception with the Hokies already down 21-7 was apparently the last straw. Schlee, who started against Syracuse with Drones absent, wasn't much better. While he did throw a touchdown, it came with the game essentially out of reach already. There may be some intrigue at quarterback this week in Blacksburg.

Scores twice in place of Drones Schlee completed 16 of 24 passes for 206 yards and one touchdown during Saturday's 38-31 overtime defeat to Syracuse. He also had 19 rushes for 54 yards with one touchdown.

Impact Schlee put together a respectable performance in the absence of starter Kyron Drones, but it wasn't enough to knock off the Orange. Schlee may very well start again, as there's currently no timetable for Drones' return. He's not a terrible option for the Hokies, as he does offer some dual-threat ability and was solid as a passer against Syracuse. Still, with such a small sample size, he's hard to trust from a fantasy perspective.

Impact Schlee is set to make his first start of the season against the Orange. He's thrown all of one pass this fall, but will now take over as Virginia Tech's starting gunslinger for at least one game. Notably, the senior has a dual threat element to his game, similar to Drones, so it'll be interesting to see how much - if at all - Virginia Tech's game-plan changes at Syracuse.

Impact Head coach DeShaun Foster indicated that he hopes to have Schlee back in the mix later in the week, so there's a good chance Schlee will be ready to participate at some point this spring after getting injured in the team's bowl game versus Boise State. He'll likely slot in behind Ethan Garbers for quarterback duties heading into 2024.

Schlee's rushing numbers are what is keeping him afloat as a legitimate option to compete for snaps against Ethan Garbers and Dante Moore.
