The tight end is the Wolverines' best receiving threat, and a critical part of this offense especially as it breaks in a new starting quarterback in Alex Orji. There's no telling exactly how serious Loveland's injury is at this juncture, or how much time, if any, the tight end may miss. Still, this is a net positive for Loveland and Michigan.

Impact Loveland left Michigan's Week 3 matchup with the Red Wolves late in the first half with an apparent shoulder injury. The 6-foot-5 tight end was able to return to the field to start the second half, but he appeared to reaggravate the injury on a seven-yard reception before ultimately exiting the contest. Loveland has been an integral part of the Wolverines' passing attack, totaling 19 receptions for 187 yards and one touchdown through three games. The junior tight end's status will be monitored ahead of next Saturday's matchup with USC.

Impact Loveland was on the receiving end of both of quarterback J.J. McCarthy's two passing touchdowns during the second quarter. The sophomore tight end ultimately finished as the Wolverines' second-leading receiver behind fellow tight end and Indiana transfer A.J. Barner, as the latter caught eight passes after logging nine receptions through the first seven weeks of the season. Loveland has now logged the second-most receptions (23) and the third-most receiving yards (364) for the Wolverines this season, and he's also caught four touchdown passes over the last three weeks. Expect him to remain one of the primary targets for McCarthy this coming Saturday versus Purdue.
