Impact Blankumsee had easily his best performance of the season Saturday despite leaving the game in the first half. In the span of three minutes in the second quarter, Blankumsee caught touchdowns of 21 yards and 69 yards, helping the Tigers jump out to a 24-14 lead. While celebrating that second touchdown, he appeared to hyperextend his leg and was forced out of the game before returning for a single play later in the game. Fresh off his best performance of the season, Blankumsee's status for Friday's game versus Rice is in question, however the fact that he was able to return to the game after his injury is somewhat promising.

Impact Blankumsee had previously left the game against the Roadrunners with an undisclosed injury and was seen heading to the locker room. Though he returned for just one play, it's very encouraging to see the senior receiver was able to get back on the field, indicating that his injury may not have been as serious as initially thought. His status will be worth monitoring throughout the week, but Blankumsee can likely be looked at as probable for the Tigers' upcoming game against Rice this Friday.

Impact Blankumsee appeared to hurt himself while celebrating his touchdown. The receiver headed to the injury tent before being escorted the locker room. It's unclear the severity of Blankumsee's injury at this point, but Memphis is without one of its top wideouts for the time being.

It's been a disappointing start to the season for him as he has gained just 178 yards through five games and has failed to score a touchdown after scoring seven last season. At this point it seems that the Tigers' passing attack is not potent enough to support Blankumsee, in addition to Seth Henigan spreading the ball around fairly evenly which severely limits Blankumsee's volume.

Impact Blankumsee slightly improved on his Week 1 performance Saturday, catching four passes for 50 yards. While the overall yardage wasn't great, it accounted for nearly one third of Seth Henigan's passing yards. It's been a fairly quiet start to the season for Blankumsee, but he showed his ability to have break out games last season so he's due for a productive outing soon.
