Relieves starter again Saturday Williams completed seven of eight passes for 67 yards and one touchdown during Friday's 31-19 win against UCLA. He also had six rushes for 31 yards.
Impact Williams took over during the second half for the second week in a row, as fifth-year senior Will Rogers was benched after throwing back-to-back picks in the third quarter. The true freshman quarterback helped maintain the Huskies 14-10 halftime lead, and he tossed his third passing touchdown of the season when he hit tight end Decker DeGraaf for a one-yard score in the fourth quarter. Williams has been involved as a change-of-pace quarterback all season, and it now seems likely that he may take over the starting duties given Rogers' struggles under center as of late. Coach Jedd Fisch did not name who the team's starting quarterback would be going forward postgame, and the team will have a bye week before facing No. 1-ranked Oregon in the regular-season finale Saturday, Nov. 30.

Impact Williams took the reins from the Huskies' struggling starter Will Rogers, who completed 10 of 13 passes for just 59 yards and an interception before being benched in the second half. The true freshman backup quarterback didn't provide a significant boost for the Huskies either, as the team still failed to score a touchdown. Williams has made regular appearances as a change-of-pace rushing quarterback throughout the season, but he's never appeared to truly challenge for the starting job at any point. Head coach Jedd Fisch said postgame that he expects Rogers to maintain the starting job, though it will be worth monitoring if this changes at any point before this coming Friday's home game versus UCLA.

Scores rushing TD in loss Williams was 0-for-1 passing for zero yards during Saturday's 31-17 loss against Indiana. He also had three rushes for 15 yards with one touchdown.
Impact Williams continued to work in as a change-of-pace rushing quarterback Week 9, leading to his first rushing score of the season. The true freshman kept the ball on a quarterback option before sprinting untouched for an eight-yard score that pulled the score within three less than three minutes into the third quarter. Meanwhile, starting quarterback Will Rogers had perhaps his worst game of the year with two interceptions in the first half, including one that was returned for a 67-yard touchdown. Williams still did not make an impact as a passer himself, as he's now attempted more than four passes in a game just twice across eight appearances. Given Rogers' consistency for most of the season up until Saturday, it's unlikely that Williams will threaten for a full-time role anytime soon.

Throws late TD in blowout loss Williams completed 12 of 16 passes for 71 yards and one touchdown during Saturday's 40-16 loss to Iowa. He also had three rushes for 23 yards.
Impact Williams stepped in after the Huskies went down 37-10 early in the fourth quarter. He also recorded his second touchdown pass of the season with a two-yard completion to wideout Rashid Williams late in the fourth quarter. The true freshman signal-caller has regularly worked his way onto the field this season as a change-of-pace quarterback to starter Will Rogers. Williams was used as a dual-threat quarterback with an emphasis on his rushing ability over the first six games, logging 17 passing attempts to 19 carries over this span. Rogers' removal from the game early shouldn't threaten his status as Washington's QB1 moving forward, as he's been a very solid player so far this season. The Huskies will look to regroup before next playing at Indiana on Saturday, Oct. 26.
